Real winter weather...

It's the first morning I got up and found my extra water bucket outside with leaves frozen in it!

AND that means the yarns and fiber I rinsed last night are popsicles as well!  Once they are both thawed and dry some of these are gifts, and some may make it to the Zibbet shop (though it's all my favorite colors - it's going to be hard to part with them!).

Fall colors!

This month I've had this view from my windows, front door ....AND the deck where I dye things.
So expect a LOT of new colorways inspired by this view!

Selling on Zibbet!

I am trying out Zibbet as an alternative shop.  I've been with Etsy for nearly 4 years, but their random attempts to appease different groups, completely changing rules or formats - with no warning to sellers who don't have time to waste trolling their forums (they could easily EMAIL the sellers of updates to come, but don't).. has just left a bad taste in my mouth. I don't know whether I will close that shop or not yet, but hopefully this experiment goes well!

There aren't any items listed as of posting this blog, but I have 40 braids of fiber photographed this morning to edit and get listed there soon!

working outside the home!

I went on some farm tours and artist studio tours one weekend this month.... expecting to have a horrible time resisting home grown canned yummies, fiber with a critter's face and name attached, and so on and so forth. Drooling over a 2 week old cria was as much fun as I expected and I found a yarn shop I hope to consign some things to at some point.

What I did not expect to find was a job!

One of the tours was an equestrian center - offering free "pony" rides to all visitors. This included a genuine Percheron of immense patience (and size) that me and my husband both rode for a few minutes each. This is the first time I've been on a horse in over 10 years!  After dismounting, I promptly requested to be put the work (think I'd get to groom or feed horses, pet a few more noses before leaving if I was lucky).  Instead we got to chatting and realized it sounded like I'd be a good fit!  They do more than riding lessons, also doing theory classes, and camps and need a qualified graphic designer!  AND they rescue dogs!  So.. basically all my favorite things... horses, kids, dogs, art.... AND my mentor on site is also an artist and used to spin!

Nobody pinch me.....    (the new paddock boots already are!)
